We managed to complete
our AGM in less than half an hour this year, whereby allowing for more time
to discuss vital bike topics, rides planned for 2006 and maybe even downing
the odd pint. Very efficient! This is how it should be done. Although I (regrettably)
couldn’t make the Last Chance Run this year I understand it was otherwise
well attended and Charlie was well pleased with the money collected for the
animal sanctuary. Well done, everybody! Some of us met at the
famous lay-by on the A217 Good Friday morning for a little run to Copthorne.
Although my impression was that most people focussed on the bacon sandwiches
(delicious) I believe the official reason was to see off the Veteran Bike
people going on their run. As it was a rather refreshing day (constant rain)
those of us who weren’t drawn to some Easter DIY decided to pop down to the Surrey
Oaks for some drinks and to warm up. Overall a nice ride and at least I had a
good reason to polish the bike afterwards. I understand that about
half a dozen bikes took part in last Sunday’s British Engineerium run but
don’t know any details. Would one of the participants please be so kind as to
write a little comment for the next TT? In light of this, welcome
to the first MSL Club Run of the year! I know by the time you get to
read this, we will probably have had a bike breaking down and more than
likely people will have committed the capital sin of leaving their corners… Never
mind, it is the first run of the season and with plenty of practice and some
luck we may get it right by October. |

I understand that Peter
G. and Kelvin S. are organising a trip for modern bikes to the TT days in Mack advised me that
Footman & James (www.footmanjames.co.uk) have good deals for classic bike insurance. Should
be worth giving it a go. Once again: If you have
an idea or would like to organise a Club event, or if you would like to lead
a Sunday Run, please let the committee know. We will be happy to assist with
the organisation (if necessary). I believe everybody agrees that Bob’s Quiz
Night or Peter G’s run to Horsham for example were great fun and enjoyed by
everybody participating. |
